The apartment is ideally situated being close to the greenery of Canal St Martin and walkable to the Marais, yet having all amenities available on your doorstep. There are plenty of good food shops and supermarkets (open Sunday morning too), bakeries, drugstores, cafes & restaurants, bookstores. There are 2 excellent nearby open-air markets: Popincourt (Tuesdays and Friday mornings); Bastille (Thursday and Sunday mornings). There is a public swimming pool 10 minutes away by foot and a private gym (with a pool and sauna) just 5 minutes away. The area is non-touristy, yet is central enough that you are never far from sights, museums, parks, cinemas etc.
Public transportation connections are excellent for both the Right and Left bank. The No. 96 bus stops near the apartment and from there it's a 20 minute ride to the Sorbonne or 10 minutes to St. Paul for the National Archives. Close to Metro lines 3, 5, 8 and 9, it's a 25 minute journey to the Bibliotheque Francois Mitterrand. There are also several Velib bike stations within 5 minutes of the apartment and there are also secure private parking garages for rent in the neighbourhood (about 110 euros / month).
